This is a realistic novel that depicts ordinary Chinese in the crisis of their revolution, 1946-1950. The sides of both the Nationalists and the winning Communists are treated fairly and with frankness.

Endure: China in Revolution
Hello to the blog world. I'm new here, but I wanted to use the blog venue to get out the word about my new novel out on createspace.com. It is" Endure: A Novel of Revolution in China, 1946-1950." It is a realistic historical account of the challenges and privations faced by typical Chinese, both Nationalist and Communist supporters during this tumultuous time. I went to Createspace to see your novel. You had mentioned on my blog you were interested in getting your Author Platform up. At least that's how I interpreted it. Does Createspace have a place for authors to have space and talk about their books? Have you gone to Amazon Central to put up your Author info? There's also Barnes and Noble for self-publishes. I don't know if your book will be printed or appear as an e-book, but B and N welcomes self-publishers.
ReplyDeleteThere's so much more to know. Do you have an ISBN for the book? If so, you can go to Bookbuzzer.com and upload some of the book for a 'look inside the book' to encourage people to buy. Did you click on one of mine on my blog? It's under their fReado.com portion of Bookbuzzr.
There's so much to know about an Author Platform. Feel free to ask questions and I can give you some links I've kept filed.
Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Donna,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ideas. Create space does have author resources, so I do need to get on and use them more. A preview from the first chapter is available online: https://www.createspace.com/Preview/1071354
For those who'd like to view a physical copy of the book and live in the Junction City, Harrisburg area, you can find a copy at The Courtyard on Sixth Street, 264 W. 6th Ave, in J.C.--right beside the US Bank parking lot.
ReplyDeleteI will be there Friday afternoons from 4-5 pm to sign copies, so please come by and say hello.
I ought to add (sorry fellow-vendors) that over 40 craft and artistic vendors share the Courtyard on 6th with me. So please come by and see what everyone has to offer. Christmas is coming soon, so get this stocking stuffers and enjoy a good book as well.
ReplyDeleteI purchased the book at the Courtyard on Sixth and have found some stunning parallels to our own time in history. Many of the ideas being addressed in that revolution are being considered in our own time. I am really enjoying the book, about 1/3 through already.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your assessment, John. I found it an interesting challenge to present the events and culture of traditional China in ways that modern Westerners and Americans could associate with. As you proceed further with the book, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts about the main female character of the novel, Shi, who is treated as pretty much as property, and shows a lot of strength in trying to survive and keep her kids.
